Photographs of MGBs at Castle CombeThese MGBs take part in the Peter Best BCV8 Championship at the Castle Combe Circuit for competitors with MGB and MGBGT, MGC and MGCGT and MGBGTV8 and RV8 vehicles. Before you take a look at the photos, you may want to view this 5 second video clip (MPEG, 477KB) of the MGBs pulling away from the paddock before going onto the track. Make sure your speakers are on so you can hear the sound of many race tuned Rover V8 engines. Class A: Standard - MGB, MGBGT, MGC & MGCGTCars 1 and 4 are both roadsters and number 13 is a GT. All three MGBs have an 1860 cc engine. Class AB: FIA - MGB with homologation papersThese MGs have engines ranging from 1800 cc up to 1850 cc. Class B: Road Modified - MGB, MGBGT, MGC, MGCGT, Standard MGBGTV8 & Standard RV8Most of these MGB race cars have 1950 cc engines. Class C: Full Race - MGB, MGBGT, MGC, MGCGT & controlled 3.9 engines MGB & MGBGTTwo MGB GTs and one MGB Roadster, all with V8 engines, one 3.5 l and two 3.9 l engines. These have some body work modifications making them a bit more difficult to make from my plastic kit. Class D: Full Race - MGBGTV8 conversion of MGBGT & RoadstersThese racing cars have engines of 3900cc or 4150cc in car 84. They have more 'aggressive' styling including flared wheel arches and bulges in the bonnet to accommodate the larger engines and the associated induction systems. This would take some extra modelling if I wanted to convert my MGB plastic kit into a Class D slot car! Note: This page uses JavaScript to display the photographs. |
